Have you ever been to a smorgasbord?! I have! It’s a lot like a buffet – but it sounds way cooler. I believe a true smorgasbord has more variety and the food is more “elegant.” Anyway, every year after our FFA fundraiser, the top sellers would go to Welliver’s – it was a smorgasbord. I only mention that to say – this weeks’ Connections will be a bit of a Smorgasbord!!!
To start off I want to wish my wife Rolanda a Happy Anniversary! We’ve been married 14 years today! Wow! I’m surprised she’s put up with me that long, but she has endured. She wakes up with a pain in the neck every day!! Rolanda, “I know you don’t love me as much as I love you, but I’m just glad you love me at all.” Happy Anniversary!!
Connie Mack World Series
Well, we are right smack dab between two of our biggest events of the year – the Connie Mack World Series and the San Juan River Bi-Fly Tournament!
This past Sunday Vertical Radio completed another great week of broadcasting the CMWS. Everyone did a great job. We experienced a few technical difficulties, but each one was handled with composure, and problems were solved. A lot of feedback came in and everyone appreciated having high quality broadcasting they could listen to. Many people listen while at Ricketts Park (they get the best of both worlds), but it might mean the most for those parents and grandparents who were not able to join their kids who traveled to Farmington to be in the CMWS!
To everyone who helped make the Vertical Broadcast of the Connie Mack World Series a success – THANK YOU!!
San Juan River Bi-Fly Tournament
Now of course we gear up for what is sure to be another successful Bi-Fly Tournament. Once again – this is a collaborative event that requires many hours of preparation and teamwork. I always think it’s pretty cool to watch it all come together and see each individual just roll through and make it all happen. Our number of teams are down this year, but they were last year as well – and look what God did! We were so very close to a record event! We’ll make it the best tournament it can be and once again leave the results to God.
It is no surprise to anyone that we fully depend on God here at Navajo Ministries – and I’m so glad we do and have to. I can’t imagine being anywhere where God wasn’t part of the equation.
Remember… Impossible + Jesus = Possible!!
I’m also glad that he grants each one of us various skills, abilities and talents that he asks us to use. Sometimes a little bit of sweat goes a long way for the Kingdom of God!
Yes, we rely fully on God. And, yes, He asks us to do work. It doesn’t depend on us, but He does certainly use us. I’m thankful He allows me the privilege and I’m thankful He has you here to. We all have a part. We all play a role.
If you can believe it – there are still about 3 ½ weeks until voting has finished for the Hope Awards. It feels like we’ve been talking, sharing, posting, and talking more about the Hope Awards for months now. Wait – we have!
While there is still time, I just want to say how much I appreciate everyone who has shared the posts, told their friends and family, and been a part of what I affectionately call the “Hope Awards Initiative.” Many have come up with great ideas and different ways to get the vote out. It was truly a team effort to get the nomination and it will certainly be a team effort if we win. If we do – we will celebrate.
If we don’t – we will celebrate. We have so much to be thankful for each and every day – no matter the circumstance!
Well after talking about a smorgasbord I’m a little hungry, so I’m going to cut this short and go eat something! Oh wait – there’s more! Don’t forget two fun events happening this Sunday: the Back to School Prayer Event at 4 here at the Activity Center, and KJ-52 performing at the Oasis at 6:30! It’s going to be great!
I still have some space … I could tell some jokes, but I think I’ll spare you and just leave you with this:
